From 1st till 3rd December, 2014 the closing conference of the project “Archaeology, Authority, Community: cooperation to protect archaeological heritage” was held in Pskov, Russia. The conference was summarising the results of cross-border cooperation and implementation of the Project which began on 1 May 2012 and will end 31 December 2014. The project succeeded not only in developing close cross border cooperation network of specialists and authorities, but as well achieved remarkable scientific results. Read more

On 11th December, 2014 the 5th meeting of the Joint Programming Committee took place in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. The main objective of the meeting was to continue discussion on the second draft of the Operational Programme of Latvia – Russia Cross-Border Programme 2014-2020. In addition information was provided on financial allocations to the Programme, preparation of Financing Agreement between the European Commission and the Russian Federation and process of carrying out Strategic Environmental Assessment in both countries. The next meeting of the Joint Programming Committee will take place in Latvia in April 2015.   Read more

On 10 December, 2014 the 9th  meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of the Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme took place in St.Petersburg, Russia. Joint Monitoring Committee was informed about official  prolongation of the Programme till 31 December 2015 entering into force from 8 December 2014 and taking into account this fact following documents for the year 2015 were approved - Annual Work Plan, Information and Visibility Plan and Technical Assistance Budget. Prolongation of the Programme lead to the decision on prolongation of 14 projects - 5 Large Scale Projects and 9 standart projects. Read more

The Project aimed at encouraging co-operation between Valga (Estonia), Valka (Latvia) and Novoe Devyatkino (Russia) "Be good at sport through three countries" (Be good at sport) crossed the finish line in October, 2014. Project partners succeeded in fostering cooperation of sports teams of three partner municipalities and creating conditions for development of sports games and friendly connections between Estonia, Latvia and Russia. On November 18–19 Final conference of the project “Increasing capacity of local authorities in providing e-services in Ida-Virumaa - Leningrad oblast cross-border area” (‘e-G2C’ ) took place in St. Petersburg, where the preliminary results of the project were discussed. Prototypes of two cross-border electronic services for municipal border town archives of Narva, Slantsy and Kingisepp have been presented by the project - namely, providing information on burials and records of employment on the other side of the border. These documents are mostly often claimed by the citizens of both countries. Read more

On 28 November 2014 cornerstone ceremony of pedestrian terminal of Narva 1st border crossing point (BCP) took place in Narva, Estonia in presence of high officials and numerous media representatives. The report of Estonian TV can be viewed HERE. Narva border crossing point is one of the biggest road connections between European Union and Russian Federation. As a result of development works the throughput of Estonia-Russia border crossing point in Narva will increase two times. New modern complex will be approximately three times bigger compared with the old one. Construction works are expected to be completed in summer 2015. Read more

On 26 November, 2014 the Final Conference “Cooperation for Quality Education for Children at Social Risk” took place in White Hall of History Museum of University of Tartu and gathered all partners of trilateral CBC project “EDU no borders” as well as many other participants interested in actual educational issues. Achievements and results of three ended tourism projects are analysed and compiled. Cross border cooperation between Estonian and Russian partners in implementation of tourism projects „River Promenades – II” and „Exploring the history of narrow gauge railway” resulted in creating of new sites. New promenades on both sides of the Narva river in Narva (Estonia) and Ivangorod (Russia) are built and opened for visitors. New tourism site is expected to be created also in Türi, Estonia, where the Narrow Gauge Railway Musseum is goin to be installed. Camping tourism through Latvia, Estonia and Russia has been promoted within tourism project „Enjoy the best in Latvia, Estonia and Russia!”, where two new routes – relaxation for families with children and enjoying national cuisines were created and popularised. With September celebrations of the European Cooperation Day 2014 in Sangaste (South Estonia), Dedovichi (Pskov Region, Russia) and Balvi (Latgale Region, Latvia) and with the final staff meeting at the end of October 2014 the trilateral CBC project “To preserve not to lose it - safeguarding of cultural heritage” (Preserve not to lose) has been concluded. Nevertheless the work in 19 reconstructed premises is just increasing due to expressed high interest of visitors. To ensure sustainability of the project results Cooperation Agreement between Sangaste Rural Municipality of the Republic of Estonia, Dedovichi District Administration of Pskov Region of the Russian Federation and Balvi Municipality of the Republic of Latvia on cooperation in the spheres of economics, trade, culture and social policy was signed. On 19 November, 2014 the Project “Logistics and Overland Transport Network for Training "Blue Collars"” (LogOnTrain) had its final conference in St.Petersburg in Petersburg State Transport University. Project partners and stakeholders gathered for the Conference and were informed about general project results and outputs, experience and achievements of each partner institution and discussed the prospects of further cooperation.
