Driven by new technologies and in order to support travel planner of Via Hanseatica route online VIA HANSEATICA Project has developed and on 4 April in St.Peterburg, Russia launched its Mobile Application. With the support of the Programme colourful and interactive launching took place during international tourism fair “Leisure without borders 2014. Summer”. Visitors were involved in a quizz and after answering tricky questions about Estonia, Latvia and Russia, as well about sites of the Via Hanseatica received nice souvenirs from the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Programme and the Project. To satisfy every need of demanding and technologically very well equipped tourist on 4-6 April, 2014 during the international tourism fair “Leisure without borders 2014.Summer” in St.Petersburg (Russia) the brand new mobile application of the Via Hanseatica route will be officially launched. Mobile application is optimized for both Apple`s iOS and Google`s Android platforms. Launching ceremony is being financially supported by Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme and representatives of Joint Technical Secretariat will be also present to celebrate success of Via Hanseatica. The EU Neighbourhood Info Centre has released a video of 2-minute interview with Michael Köhler, Director for the Neighbourhood at EuropeAid, on the new European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) for the period the 2014-2020. The new ENI offers a better focus on countries wanting to have a closer relationship with European Union. “In the new system, there is more differentiation between the countries, more support for civil society and there is a programming system which really gives life to the “more for more” principle,” says Michael Köhler in the interview. Pskov regional public organization "Lake Peipsi Project" finalized and summed up the results of the Traffic safety campaign "Father, Mother, Me - Safety Family". The main participants of the action - small children from kindergartens and schools - made snow-flake reflectors with their own hands. Thanks to this public action more than 17 000 reflectors were disseminated to the inhabitants of different districts of Pskov Region. It will hopefully help to raise awareness of children on the road safety and raise the road safety standards in Pskov Region following good example of Estonian neighbours. Read more
About 90 participants representing 20 projects, including 3 Large Scale Projects, gathered for the second two days seminar on final reporting and project closure issues on 19-20 March in Pskov, Russia. Great interest from project side almost reached the ceilings of room capacity. Received feedback from participants shows that the seminar was a success and reached the aim - to support projects to fulfil requirements related to the closure and final stage of implementation of project. Questions concentrated on managing the changes within the project, proper usage of programme logo and financial issues related to exchange rates, transfer of finances between partners and use of savings. Joint exercises and case studies strengthened the project teams and increased project management skills.

New travel guide „Latgale unites!” issued within tourism cross border cooperation project „Tour de Latgale & Pskov” whole month of March 2014 is available for travellers on board of plains of the national air company Air Baltic. Within a month the guide will be available for in general 3140 Air Baltic flights directing to 41 various world destinations. The new travel guide cover is decorated with Miss Tourism Queen International 2013 contest winner Alice Miškovskas picture. Read more
Project partners Malnava College, Pskov Agricultural College and Academic Park jointly participated in the 20th International educational exhibition SKOLA 2014 that took place on 28 February - 2 March 2014 in the capital of Latvia - Riga.
Project partners presented a joint stand and joint approach to the improvement of vocational education in partner regions Latgale and Pskov and attracted great interest of potential students and educational institutions.
They provided information about improved vocational training programme in transport and logistics, new study module "Logistics", and distance learning tool.

From 28 February till 2 March the Nature Conservation Agency within the framework of the Project "People with nature" participated in the International Education Fair “School 2014”, one of the most significant events of this kind in Latvia, and presented nature education services developed in Latvia, Estonia and Russia. On 27-28 February about 80 project implementers from Estonia, Latvia and Russia representing Beneficiaries and Partners of the Projects gathered for the first two days seminar on final reporting and project closure issues in Pühajärve, Estonia. Presentations and practical exercises covered actual topics like on-spot visits to the projects, visibility and accessibility of outputs, requirements of construction works, role and obligation of the partner within project partnership, filling in the financial and narrative part of final reports. Facilitation of networking and opportunity for individual consultations were highly appreciated by participants.
