AAC: Joint achievements in the field of archaeology discussed in Pskov

 On 1 December the event took place at the hotel - conference centre “Dvor Podznoieva” (Nekrasova Street 3v) and on the 2nd and 3rd December in the conference hall of Pskov Oblast Archaeology Centre (Gertsena Street 1/1).

The closing conference was summarising the results of cross-border cooperation and implementation of the Project which began on 1 May 2012 and will end on 31 December 2014.
Event was attended by partners and associated partners of the Project, representatives of local media and students of Pskov University. In total, at the conference took part more than 70 participants.

The first day of the conference was devoted to the project results achieved in Estonia, Latvia and Russia. The generalizing paper about all the project results was presented by the main coordinator of the Project PhD Heiki Valk – Senior Research Fellow of the Archaeology Department of Tartu University. Besides the participants of the event got acquainted with huge data bases created within the project and the results of digitalized research techniques.

    

 
 The press conference and an exhibition of produced publications was attended by representatives of national media channels “Pskov” and “Telekom”, web portals “Pskovskoe agenstvo informatsyi” and “Pskovskaya Lenta Novostey” and newspapers like “Pskovkskye Novosti”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda” and “Argumenty i Fakty – Pskov”.

The project succeeded not only in developing close cross border cooperation network of specialists and authorities, but as well achieved remarkable scientific results. On 2 and 3 December specialists' community of all three countries was introduced in more than 20 presentations.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to the papers on the topics of Projects main activities: rescue excavations, field inventories in the border areas of Estonia, Latvia and Russia, the results of collection inventories, etc.

    

On the third day participants of the conference planned future events in the framework of the new international network for archaeologists and discussed laws that are meant to protect archaeological heritage.

     
  

      

                                   

The conference ended with an excursion for the Project Partners from Estonia and Latvia to the Pskov State Museum-Reserve.
