CULTURE ARTS: with colourful Masquerade Festival in Salacgrīva project finalise its activities

Masquerade Festival, chanting ancient Latvian spring waiting festivities, this year gathered very international participants from regions of Latvia, from Hedemeste, Estonia, as well project partners from Volhov, Russia. Thanks to the project „Culture Arts” the theatre group „Svecha” from Volhov showed special performance „Maslenica”. On 7 and 8 February with closing seminar and Masquerade Festival the cross border cooperation culture project „Culture Arts” between Limbazi, Salacgrīva (Latvia) and Volhov (Russia) has come to an end. 

Guests from Volhov – group „Jezztone” and theatre group „Svecha” performed the jazz concert and clownery performance during the project closing seminar. Evaluation of benefits and results achieved during two years of project implementation was on the agenda.


 

 
Several international theatre and music festivals have been organized in the framework of project activities - like accordion and diksilend music festival. Theatre festival „Joy of the play” was organized in Limbazi county, festival „Days of culture of Latvia” took place in Volhov, Russia and Masquerade festival in Salacgriva, Latvia.  Many groups of musicians and theatres visited each other in these festivals.  Theatre groups prepared and played theatre, orchestra and music school concerts were organized.

Participants of the groups of musicians and theatres improved their know-how and skills in lectures, musical master classes and theatre workshops. Also technical support has been received within the project - purchased musical instruments, theatre mounts and chairs, decorations and costumes were sewn. The rehearsal hall was reconstructed in the Culture House in Volhov (Russia).


 
As a result of the activities within the project fellowship among the 16 partners of cultural groups has been created and in total 200 people took part in the activities of the project.   Municipalities of Limbaži and Volhova signed a twinning agreement, where it is determined to continue the co-operation also in other fields – social, educational, sports and business.
