ESTRUSFORTTOUR-2: Cross Border Fortresses of Narva and Ivangorod better accessible - investments start to pay back
On 30 May in Narva and on 31 May in Ivangorod new infrastructures for better access to cross border fortresses were opened in colourful ceremonies.
Narva Castle Park in front of the Fortress got rebuilt fountain, restored monument, new tracks and chairs, dog stations and greenery – 18 new trees and 200 other plants were planted. Narva Castle is now better visible and park is becoming a nice place for inhabitants and visitors of Narva.
Ivangorod Fortress opened parking place, toilets, and wide and comfortable stone stairs leading to the Fortress. Tourist buses and visitors now can visit the Ivangorod Fortress comfortably.
The opening ceremony of the renewed Castle Park was attended by high and senior officials of Estonia and Russia, representatives of the funding program, regional authorities, local governments, tourism companies and the press, the inhabitants of Narva and Ivangorod.
The project activities also include development of a single audio-tour around the fortresses, development of a joint promotional strategy and promotional events.
The total project budget is 1 824 564 EUR, out of which 10% is partners’ co-financing. Grant Contract for financing of the project "EstRusFortTour-2" was signed on 15. December 2011.
