FOSTER SME: Several projects met in Pechory for Fair opening and round table discussion

On 07 May 2014 in the central square of Pechory, Russia, the pilot mobile Fair “Business to Pechory” was opened by the Project «Fostering of Socio-economic Development and Encouraging Business in Border Areas” (Foster SME). The event was organized by Pskov partner of the Project - ANO Fund of Guarantee and Enterprise Development of Pskov Region with support of the Administration of Pechory District. The Fair was devoted to the Day of Entrepreneurship.

The Fair took place in and around movable fair complex, purchased within the Project for organizing such outdoor events in the districts of Pskov region and even farther. The fair participants – craftsmen, local SMEs, farm enterprises - presented to the visitors their various products from local food and souvenirs to building technologies and materials,  tourism products and decorative plants. Organizations providing SME support in the region and partners from Latvia and Estonia also had their info-stands exposed in the fair pavilion.

Ceremonious opening of the pavilion and fair started with greeting speeches of the Head of Pechory District Sergey Vasiljev, director of Fund of Guarantee and Enterprise Development of Pskov Region Svetlana Zhuravljova, the head of the external economic relations department of the Committee for Economy of Pskov Region Natalia Goleva, the Deputy Head of Strugy Krasnyje District Valerij Nikin.

The fair was followed by a round table discussion “The experience of implementation of cross border cooperation projects”, where participants were introduced with general information on the state of play in the Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme, experience of Pskov Region in cooperation with bordering regions of Estonia and Latvia. Other projects of the Programme, implemented in Pskov region and Pechory, were invited to share their valuable experience and achieved results.

Partners from Estonia, Latvia and Russia had an opportunity to discuss questions of cross border cooperation, most important for the future period cooperation as well. For the Fund of Guarantee and Enterprise Development the event ended in signing agreement of cooperation with Business Centre of North Latgale.

To crown the wonderful event, a lottery for all the attendants of the fair with prizes from participating entrepreneurs took place. Such lotteries have become already traditional for the fairs and are very enthusiastically participated by both the visitors and the businessmen, who take this opportunity to promote their goods or services.
