HERITAGE BUSINESS: Exchange visits of School Firms of Estonia, Latvia and Russia create a network of young entrepreneurs in three countries.
The Project “Promoting the use of cultural heritage and resources in product development in border areas” (Heritage business) has as one of its aims improvement of skills and knowledge of school-children about entrepreneurship to ensure the future sustainability of business sector and to reduce unemployment of young people.
One of the steps towards this aim is a series of exchange visits to partner municipalities organized for the representatives of school firms from all three countries. The visits to Pechory and Setomaa have already helped to share experience and know-how acquired by the young entrepreneurs through the work in school firms founded in the framework of the project.
On 26-27 March in Setomaa and on 25-26 April in Pechory members of 20 school firms visited small local enterprises and studied business opportunities, got acquainted with most prominent cultural and historic sights, tried their hands in workshops and master-classes on local traditional skills. Hosting schools greeted guests very warmly with concerts of folk collectives and talented young artists.
Young entrepreneurs as well had a wonderful opportunity to present to their peers from partner countries the results of their hand work, presentation and marketing skills.
The fairs of hand made products of the school firms were very colourful and attractive and were finalised by a real fair performance of a puppet theatre.
The last visit of school firms of the series planned within the project to the third partner country – Latvia, will take place in autumn this year.
