IT That Cares – a success story of the project „Baltic ICT Platform”

The project “Baltic ICT Platform” (ELRI-121) was implemented in the framework of the Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007 – 2013 in order to create a network of Demo Centres. It has been remarkably important support to grow, prove its capabilities and become highly recognized both on national and international level.


    


Riga IT Demo Centre is a basis to initiate and lead the co-operation of IT sector, educational institutions, public and diplomatic sector. The public sector is the highly appreciated partner for organizing different large scale conferences and events. Riga IT Demo Centre is also hosting events for international delegations to identify co-operation, investment and export opportunities, as well ensure the interest of young generation for IT supporting education possibilities, offering to try hands-on IT solutions.  All in all, Riga IT Demo Centre has been highly acknowledged by various state and private institutions. Since opening it has been visited by 70 different international delegations, hosting media events for 60 journalists and guests as well organizing different events for more than 600 pupils and students – around 3000 guests have visited Riga IT Demo Centre since July 2012


           

Riga IT Demo Centre can be proud of the outstanding acknowledgement by the state to be chosen to present the achievements of the network of ICT Demo Centres and the entire Latvian IT sector during the time of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It is a unique and excellent opportunity to present all the results achieved during last years to a wide high-level audience.


    

Riga IT Demo Centre can be proud of the outstanding acknowledgement by the state to be chosen to present the achievements of the network of ICT Demo Centres and the entire Latvian IT sector during the time of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It is a unique and excellent opprtunity to present all the results achieved during last years to a wide high-level audience.

      

Therefore, at the end of 2014, Riga IT Demo Centre is moving from Valdemara Centre to the new building of National Library of Latvia – Castle of Light. The first half of the year 2015, Riga IT Demo Centre will be working in close cooperation of Secretariat of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. More than 200 events and about 30 000 visitors are planned for the first half of 2015 most of which will be held at National Library of Latvia. After the presidency, Riga IT Demo Centre will continue its activities in the National Library of Latvia building by hosting delegations as usual: international delegations and guests, cross-industrial events and seminars, media events and cooperation with higher education institutions.


The exhibition demonstrates IT solutions that are related to such important areas as community, education and culture, business, innovation and start-ups, health, management and others. “It That Cares” – the motto of Riga IT Demo Centre is surely appropriate to the work that has been done during all these years.

      
  
The Riga Information Technology Demonstration Centre (Riga IT Demo Centre) is one of the uniting and strengthening forces for the Latvian and Baltic IT sector since it was launched on July 4th 2012. Riga IT Demo Centre is the vivid result of healthy and successful Latvian IT environment that operates as proud presenter of the development and achievements of information communication and technology (ICT) solutions in Latvia and abroad.

Riga IT Demo Centre is established and developed as a community project, implemented by the Latvian IT Cluster that aims to create a leading communication platform for entire Latvian IT sector.
