Joint Monitoring Committee of the Latvia-Russia Programme meets for the first time
On 31 May – 1 June 2016, the first meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of the Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2014 – 2020 took place in Jurmala, Latvia.
The aim of the meeting of the JMC was to reach decisions on further implementation of the Programme. In order to ensure good quality management of the Programme, following documents were adopted:
- Rules of Procedure of the JMC
- Work Programme for 2016
- Information and Communication plan for 2016
- Guidelines for Direct Award Project applicants with annexes
- Technical Assistance budget for 2016 and indicative Technical Assistance budget for whole duration of the Programme
The main responsibility of the JMC is to monitor the implementation of the Programme. The committee includes representatives of national, regional and, where appropriate, local authorities from each participating country - Latvia and Russia. Representatives of the European Commission and Technical Support to the Implementation and Management of ENI CBC Programmes (TESIM) were present at the meeting.
The Programme supports joint efforts for addressing cross-border development challenges and promote sustainable use of existing potential of the area across border between Latvia and Russia.
The Programme priorities are 1) Business and SME development; 2) Environmental protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation; 3) Promotion of border management and border security, mobility and migration management.
Total budget of the Latvia-Russia Programme is MEUR 27.
