Minister of the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Mr Edmunds Sprudzs hands the Grant contract of the Programme to the Vidzeme Planning Region for 1,6 million euro
On Friday, 16 December the Minister of the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Mr Edmunds Sprudzs handed over to the Chairman of the Vidzeme plannig region Mr Nikolay Stepanov signed Grant contract of a crossboder tourism development project Via Hanseatica with total financing of 1,8 million euro.
Project has been accepted by the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Programme and the European Commission under the Priority 1 of the Programme, 1.3 Measure – Tourism development and involves 18 partners - the highest amount of partners among accepted projects within the 1st Call. 7 partners are coming from Latvia, 9 from Estonia and 2 from Russian Federation.
Project is aimed at increasing the potenctial of the tourism route Via Hanseatica connecting St.Petersburg, Narva/Ivangorod, Tartu, Valga/Valka, Valmiera and Sigulda. Tourism package and modules will promote and mark the Via Haseatica route through Latvia, Estonia and Russian Federation. Webpage www.viahanseatica.info will become a multilingual virtual tool for tourists.
Implementation of the Project starts in January 2012 and will last 3 years.
