Rafter party celebrated at the new pedestrian terminal in Narva-1 BCP

The aim of development works is to make the border crossing in Narva and Ivangorod faster and more convenient for people. As a result of construction works the throughput of Estonia-Russia border crossing point in Narva will increase two times.

Before the reconstruction Narva-1 BCP was consisting of three different terminals: for cars and buses, for pedestrians and for trucks. There were 2 traffic lanes for buses, two lanes for cars and four lanes for pedestrians. Old terminal buildings were built in beginning of 1990-s and those were amortised.

The maximum capability of the border crossing points can be used only in case the throughput of the border crossing points on both sides of the border is equal. Today there is a separate terminal for buses in Ivangorod (Russia) and passengers can pass the control in four lines. Six lanes are for cars and six lanes for pedestrians. As a final result of construction works the infrastructure of border crossing points on Estonian and Russian side is planned to be harmonize according to possibilities.

The old pedestrian terminal in Narva, size of 500 m2 was demolished and new modern complex will be approximately three times bigger compared with the old building.

Total cost of the construction works of Narva-1 BCP is 6,7 MEUR.

Reconstruction of Narva-1 BCP is conducted in frame of the Large Scale project of Estonia-Latvia-Russia Programme “Complex Reconstruction of Border Crossing Points in Ivangorod and in Narva” (`BCP Narva-Ivangorod`). Total cost of the project is 8 221 126 EUR and co-financing by Estonia-Latvia-Russia Programme and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Estonia is 7 399 013,00 EUR.
