TOUR: 19 recreation places near lakes of Latgale created within the project received high interest from Lithuanians

From 24 to 26 January Latgale planning region took part in the International tourism fair ADVENTUR 2014 in the capital of Lithuania Vilnius in the framework of the activities of the Programme’s supported project "Tour". Newly issued travel guide „Latgale unites!” and recreation places near lakes and water bodies were of highest interest for the people of the neighbouring country. Project "Tour" presented 19 new recreation places in Latgale created within project activities.

In the joint stand tourism experts from Latgale worked together with representatives of the tourism sector from Pskov Oblast. Information on travelling opportunities in Latgale and Pskov was provided to tour operators from Lithuania and potential tourists. As stated in statistics tourists from Lithuania are the second most frequent foreign visitors in Latgale after Russian tourists.

 

Together with representatives of tourism information centres – Anna Čapule and Inese Martinkus, Andris Mejers with his daughter Diana representing society „Latgolys golds” treated exhibition visitors to the delights of Latgale - bacon, bread and cheese.



Exhibition takes place each second year and tradition has been taken over from VIVATTUR, which was organized for 18 years. ADVENTUR 2014 is the main event in tourism sector in the neighbouring country and it gathers local and foreign tourism professionals.
