Summary: Although project partners are situated rather far from each other (400 km), historical ties between landscape parks are close - the Aluksne New Palace park was created, inspired by the landscape Park of the Pavlovsk Palace which was designed by V. Brenna, K.Rossi, P.Gonzago. 18th-19th century landscape parks in Pavlovsk and Aluksne with small architecture forms is one of the few in Eastern Europe region that have been preserved until the present day. The Pavlovsk Park is one of the largest in Russia, even Europe, while Aluksne park is one of the few 18th-19th century landscape parks with small forms in Latvia, even Baltics region. Unfortunately, part of small architecture forms has urgent need for restoration, especially 200-year-old wooden Pavilion of Alexander in Aluksne landscape park and Grand Cascade (erected in 1786-1787) in Pavlovsk landscape park. Within this project it is planned to revive cooperation between park owners – nowadays public authorities and museums. It’s one of the most popular solutions how to save and popularise local cultural heritage. Museums need to follow modern technological tendencies and to increase visitor’s interest towards art, history and beauty of local heritage, traditions and spiritual values. Therefore exchange of specialists is very important: it can help to increase their capacity and to see different ways to attract visitors, especially youth. The most important investments are aimed to the restoration of small architecture forms to preserve landscape parks and experience exchange between specialists to develop new contacts for future cooperation.
