Summary: The overall objective of the project aims to contribute towards achieving higher energy-efficiency in two neighbouring regions - Jõhvi and its’ surrounding county of Ida-Virumaa (Estonia) and the district of Kingisepp (Russia). The specific objective of the project is to rise people’s awareness on energy saving methods plus establish two sample objects (one on each side) as the best practises how to renovate an old typical Soviet kindergarten to a modern type house with low energy consumption. During the project a set of awareness rising actions will be organised (infodays, seminars, study-trips) for the municipal specialists and people related with kindergartens (staff, parents). To create first examples in both partner regions, where the basic complex reconstuction in the field of energy-efficiency has been implemented, two kindergartens will be under attention. In Jõhvi, kindergarten „Kalevipoeg“, as the oldest continuously working kindergarten in Ida-Virumaa county, will get the facade and roof warming, then new, energy-efficient ventilation system and improvements in central heating system. In Kingisepp, the kindergarten No 3 will get the facade and roof warming, then central heating system will be completely replaced. By the complex of activities implemented during this project, partners will contribute to achieving program goals as well as follow their countries legislative and strategical tendencies to improve energy-efficiency.
